MLCA Member IBCLCs In-Network With Aetna
Sharla is a compassionate and knowledgeable IBCLC in private practice. She offers prenatal private and group classes; postpartum home, office, and virtual consultations; and a breastfeeding support group. Sharla is in network with Aetna and Unicare, and families can seek reimbursement from BCBS of MA, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts, and AllWays.
Sharla experienced her own breastfeeding challenges as a new mother and she seeks to help others avoid or alleviate theirs. She helps families achieve their unique breastfeeding goals; she is an inclusive and non-judgmental practitioner and serves all families looking for assistance with infant-feeding. Sharla supports families experiencing latch and positioning issues, breast and nipple pain, slow weight gain, low milk supply, oversupply, plugged ducts/mastitis, multiple births, breastfeeding after reduction or breast surgery, induced lactation, tethered oral tissues (tongue tie), tandem nursing; the return to work; the starting of solids; and weaning, among other various lactation challenges.
Sharla’s passion for human lactation began in 1994 at the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied nutrition and dietetics. Her studies and training continued as a midwifery student; a breastfeeding mother of two; a La Leche League Leader; a birth and postpartum doula; and a public health nutritionist and CLC at the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). She earned a Master of Public Health degree in Maternal and Child Health from Boston University.

I’ve been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2009 and a Pediatric Registered Nurse since 2001. In addition to my private practice, I’m part of the Boston Children's Hospital Lactation Support Program. I’m the proud mother of two children who were breastfed and supplemented.
My approach to lactation consulting is to provide you with solutions that will help meet your baby's feeding needs, and your own goals. Breastfeeding is a natural process and can often require adjustments and fine tuning to make it work for baby and parent. There is no “one size fits all” answer when it comes to breastfeeding - only what works for you and your baby. I offer visits in the comfort of your own home, or via Telemedicine, to develop a personalized plan for you and your baby.

Lo Nigrosh(she/her) is a mom of 2, an IBCLC, a childbirth educator and a doula who has been helping families feed their babies in the ways that feel best for them for years. She came to this work through her own intense struggle to feed her first child in 2013, and knew immediately that this would be her life's work. When you work with Lo, you will combine your expertise of your family's needs, your own body, and what you've learned about your baby in the days, weeks and months that you've been getting to know one another with her expertise of hormones, milk supply, and physiology of the human body to come up with a feeding plan that will bring more ease and less anxiety to feeding your baby. Lo is also the host of the podcast The Milk Making Minutes which explores baby feeding struggles and triumphs through the lens of systemic and cultural barriers.
I offer a support group periodically at the Athol Public Library in coordination with the baby and toddler story hour. I also host a podcast called The Milk Making Minutes which explores breastfeeding struggles and triumphs through the lens of systemic barriers and I have an online community on Facebook called The Milk Making Minutes which discusses similar themes.
