Not long ago, I remember having some crazy thoughts about how long I could breastfeed or if I could even make it through one more night. Was it worth it? Was I doing it right? How much is he getting? My son is now a strong willed and loving toddler who was able to breastfeed for a full year!
I had known I wanted to be a nurse since I was a young child. The science and technique of breastfeeding was something was interested in, even before I was able to breastfeed my son. So when I was able to pursue my Bachelors Degree in Nursing Science and start working towards getting my IBCLC, or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I steam rolled right in and loved every minute of it.
Interestingly, the science behind lactation is still so uncharted, which made me want to learn more and help others become educated in the benefits of breastfeeding/human milk feeding,
I've worked in the medical field in pediatrics for over 10 years. I currently work at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton, MA as a Lactation Consultant in Labor/Delivery, Maternity and NICU. I've been working with breastfeeding families for over 5 years, but have been more focused in providing evidence-based care for these families after I breastfed my own son.
When I'm not helping families and children with health and wellness, you can find me at home with my son, going on adventures to new places, making memories, and binge-ing on my favorite Netflix shows!
